The Zombie Critic

This is an upcoming UK zombie flick by Shaun Robert Smith that is supposed to begin shooting in Spring 2010.

The movie is based on Smith’s short film The Soldier and is supposed to be in 3D.  It looks pretty promising and we definitely could use another Nazi zombie movie.  Not to mention it looks like there is going to be a cameo of Tom Savini, which is nice.

There’s been a lot of speculation about JJ Abrams next project called 500 Rads, which a lot of bloggers are guessing will be some kind of post-apocalyptic zombie film, but really it’s all very hush hush, top secret and no one knows for sure.

I hope it’s either a cool zombish type film or even better, a sequal to the 1986 BMX movie - Rad :P

The Light of Daigh Trailer - new indie zombie trailer by Ritual Pictures.

The full movie hasn’t actually been completed yet as the production company is still seeking funding.  However, from the trailer it looks decent so far and the plot seems somewhat similar to 28 Days Later.

It doesn’t look official yet, but the rumors of a spin-off tv series of Romero’s Dawn of the Dead have been flying around the blogoshpere all day.  According to the article, it will feature both fast and slow zombies… hmmm interesting.

I’ll work on trying to get more details for you guys, hopefully this thing happens.

New REC 2 Italian Trailer

So Sony, who now owns the distribution rights to [REC]2, is releasing the movie to a bunch of other countries including Italy, however with the one exception of the United States…  what the hell?!

I hope to god they don’t hold off on this in order to make a Quarantine 2, that would suck.  Just give us the damn original foreign film with sub-titles, seriously, I don’t mind that it’s in Spanish…

“Most zombie movies to this point have been small, focusing on a few people in a house. And this has got real scare. You’re in India with hundreds of boats trying to get out of there with a tidal wave of zombies. The scale of what we’re doing here is phenomenal.”

I always thought that there should be a zombie movie that shows the global ramifications of the zombie apocalypse, rather than the typical focus on a small group of survivors.  It looks like World War Z, based on the popular Max Brooks novel will deliver the goods.  I can’t wait!
