Tom Savini cameo poster for the 4th Reich Nazi zombie movie
I Walked With a Zombie (1943)
This classic voodoo style zombie produced by Val Lewton was one of the greats, right up there with the likes of Cat People and The Body Snatcher.
Though there isn’t a whole lot of action and cheap thrills, the movie does have a nice story and provides an almost eerily quite atmosphere. If I had to pick between this and White Zombie, I take this any day.
There’s been a lot of speculation about JJ Abrams next project called 500 Rads, which a lot of bloggers are guessing will be some kind of post-apocalyptic zombie film, but really it’s all very hush hush, top secret and no one knows for sure.
I hope it’s either a cool zombish type film or even better, a sequal to the 1986 BMX movie - Rad :P
The Light of Daigh Trailer - new indie zombie trailer by Ritual Pictures.
The full movie hasn’t actually been completed yet as the production company is still seeking funding. However, from the trailer it looks decent so far and the plot seems somewhat similar to 28 Days Later.
It doesn’t look official yet, but the rumors of a spin-off tv series of Romero’s Dawn of the Dead have been flying around the blogoshpere all day. According to the article, it will feature both fast and slow zombies… hmmm interesting.
I’ll work on trying to get more details for you guys, hopefully this thing happens.

Zombi 2 (Zombie), 1979 (dir. Lucio Fulci)
By zombiecritic
This movie broke so much ground in the zombie genre and basically kicked off the whole weird Italian zombie movie craze. Not to mention, zombie vs. shark… nuff said!
Night of the Comet (1984)
When a rare comet fly’s by the earth, the people of the world are turned into red dust leaving a small group of survivors, mainly teenage girls with big hair. The problem with the survivors is that some of them have been turned into zombies, a problematic issue for those who inherit the earth and all it’s shopping malls as their personal playground.
It’s about what one could expect from a cheesy 80s horror movie. It’s like a high school girl version of I am Legend or Omega Man. The movie clearly doesn’t take itself too seriously and is actually amusing in some spots, but overall could probably be compressed into 20 minutes of solid film.
My official rating on this is: Meh…
Zombi 2, aka Zombie, aka Zombie Flesh Eaters (1979)
This is one of the first Italian Zombie movies by Lucio Fulci and it kind of kick started the whole weird Italian horror genre.
Also, there’s some notable scenes such as the Zombie vs. Shark and the infamous eye gouging scene. Not to mention that the Fulci style zombies are quite gory compared to earlier Romero zombies. Fulci’s heavy use of live worms in the eye sockets of his living dead seem to be one his signature effects.
Overall, the movie is pretty visual and not that scary in a suspenseful kind of way, it’s more in a creepy gross way. It’s solid stuff and definitely worth seeing if you’re a hardcore zombiephile.
[REC] 2007 Movie Review
This shaky-cam style zombie flick, is one of the best I’ve seen and was truly a scary movie. The ending is terrifying especially if your sitting on your couch alone in your darkened apartment.
It’s Spanish and there’s sub titles, but that doesn’t really bother me that much, besides the universal language of sheer horror emitted by the characters pretty much speak for themselves.
The movie is the original to the U.S. remake called Quarantine. If you haven’t seen either of them yet, it’s probably better to watch REC first, as I hear it’s a lot better.
By the way, the ending to my review gets a little scary itself, so this is warning for those with heart conditions… you’ve been warned:)
