Cemetery Man is by far in my all time favorites list for zombie flicks and is quite refreshing compared to the often predictable Apocalypse style of walking dead films. This isn’t so much a zombie movie as it is a demented Italian love story with some zombies thrown in for good measure. I give it five headless talking heads up.

Zombieland (2009)

Talk about an over hyped movie, Zombieland was just.. meh. Though you can’t really compare it to a Romeroesque style zombie flick since it’s probably classified as a Zomedy, it’s still over-rated in my opinion, likely due to it’s big marketing budget and cachet of the two stars, Woody Harrelson and a clumsy Michael Cera knock-off. Granted it was ok, the characters are likable, the “rules” are a nice touch and there is a pleasant surprise cameo towards the end. However, for comparison, it still doesn’t hold a candle to the likes of Shaun of the Dean or what I believe to be one of the most-underrated zomedies of the last decade: Dance of the Dead. Zombieland has it’s moments but surely didn’t strike me with rigor mortis.

beautyandterrordance:

It’s a pretty solid zombie movie, ya know… for a low budget cheesy zomedy. And out of the two movies in the zombie/stripper sub-genre, it’s probably #1 :P Also, Freddy Krueger plays the club owner, which is pretty sweet…

beautyandterrordance:

The movie is based on Smith’s short film The Soldier and is supposed to be in 3D. It looks pretty promising and we definitely could use another Nazi zombie movie. Not to mention it looks like there is going to be a cameo of Tom Savini, which is nice.

Murder Legendre’s castle in White Zombie 1932

Murder Legendre’s castle in White Zombie 1932

Photo

I Walked With a Zombie (1943)

This classic voodoo style zombie produced by Val Lewton was one of the greats, right up there with the likes of Cat People and The Body Snatcher.

Though there isn’t a whole lot of action and cheap thrills, the movie does have a nice story and provides an almost eerily quite atmosphere. If I had to pick between this and White Zombie, I take this any day.

500 Rads - Secrect JJ Abrams Zombie Movie?

500 Rads - Secrect JJ Abrams Zombie Movie?:
There’s been a lot of speculation about JJ Abrams next project called 500 Rads, which a lot of bloggers are guessing will be some kind of post-apocalyptic zombie film, but really it’s all very hush hush, top secret and no one knows for sure.

I hope it’s either a cool zombish type film or even better, a sequal to the 1986 BMX movie - Rad :P

Grove’s Chill Tonic 1890. It’s not zombie related,...

Grove’s Chill Tonic 1890. It’s not zombie related, I don’t think, but it’s probably one of the creepiest vintage ads I’ve seen. o_O

The Light of Daigh Trailer - new indie zombie trailer by Ritual...

The Light of Daigh Trailer - new indie zombie trailer by Ritual Pictures.
